In 2004, I started working for a renowned flooring distributor in Spain. These were the years of the real estate boom. The market was booming, and the number of transactions was extraordinary. It was absolute madness; everything was selling.
I sold interior and exterior flooring. The former presented no difficulty (it was the market leader), but the latter, due to its lack of quality, resistance, and difficult maintenance, didn't quite meet consumer expectations...
The Challenge Was to Find a Material that could Withstand the Elements, Enduring Rain, Humidity, Heat…
Without Forgetting Aesthetics and Comfort.
At that time, the products that existed were not technically well-developed and were a headache. A few years later, something changed. There was a major advance in I+D that resulted in a revolution in the market. New models, installation systems, other formats were incorporated… you know, many possibilities opened up.
Much remained to be improved to achieve synthetic materials that would solve the shortcomings of natural wood.
Today, there are different options on the market, but none with the characteristics of Millboard.
